A number of ridiculous things happen in this book, and the protagonist believes in still more fabulous and impossible things. But all these silly things have two things in common: they are highly imaginative, and they are presented in a completely matter-of-fact manner. Actually the very premise of the book is one of them. This makes it a very entertaining and refreshing, reminiscent of the marketing slogan for Milliways.

I enjoyed it, although there were a couple of things that occured that were just plain sick or unpleasant.
