Despite the fact that this story is about a murderer, and except in those parts that actually deal with that, I call this story AMUSING:
This story is presented in such a simple, straightforward, and chronological fashion, with each story element properly closed blatantly transparently before the next begins, that it becomes quite amusing.
The idea that someone's olfactory sense could be so well developped is quite amusing.
The idea that it could be possible to completely subvert and control people using odours and that someone could master this art is amusing (and scary too!).
Also there is a perfectly splendid bitter rant in chapter 11! That was amusing too!
